[Update 30-03-2021]: With the patch KB5000842, a new optional quality update for Windows 10 versions 20H2 and 2004 is now available for download. Microsoft uses it to solve more than 50 problems and remove the old Edge browser (legacy) from the operating system.
After various tests in the beta and release preview channel, the final update to Windows builds 19041.906 (2004) and 19042.906 (20H2) can now be downloaded. Due to its size, the cumulative update KB5000842 was not expected until Patch Day in April, but work on it seems to have been completed early. In addition, the update includes a servicing stack update (SSU) that is intended to ensure and improve the reliability of the installation of future patches.
Despite a long list of improvements, Windows 10 users will have to forego new features with this update. To do this, more than 50 errors are eliminated. Microsoft addressed several issues, including with high-DPI and HDR monitors when using touch keyboards and 7.1 audio as well as the synchronization of one-Drive. Excessive memory consumption by explorer.exe should also be eliminated. One of the most noticeable changes to the KB5000842 update is the removal of the old Microsoft Edge (Legacy). After the patch installation, only the newer Chromium version of the browser is available.
The download of Windows 10 builds 19041.906 (2004) and 19042.906 (20H2) can now be initiated using the Windows update function. Due to its status as an optional quality update, there is currently no automatic installation.
