Sophisticated search functions, that's more Google's field. But everything you need is in Firefox too. Firefox 87 has a practical novelty when it comes to searching on websites that are already open. When typing a search term, Firefox users have long been able to specify that all search hits are highlighted in color. Another new feature is that the found locations are now also marked in the scroll bar. This allows users to quickly see how often a search term occurs on a website and quickly navigate there.
Note

Other new features in Firefox 87
Firefox 87 has even more innovations in its luggage:
- Backspace: The backspace key can not only be used in Firefox for deleting, but also for navigation. Power users in particular liked to use Backspace to quickly navigate to the previous page. However, since this can have undesirable side effects with web forms in which you actually only wanted to delete one character, but lost all of the data by loading the previous page, this abbreviation is now disconnected. If you want the feature back, you can restart it with "about: config" and "browser.backspace_action". The value must be set to "0" for this.
- Library: Mozilla uses the release of Firefox 87 to slim down a few menus. For example, only "Bookmarks", "Chronicle" and "Downloads" can now be found in the library menu.
- Help menu: The help menu has also been evaporated.
- about: config: What the registry is in Windows, "about: config" is in Firefox. Many settings can be adjusted in detail there. In order to get a better overview of changes that have already been made, you can now use a new checkbox to select "Only display changed settings".
- For developers: Web developers should take a look at the specially created changelog. The web developer menu has also been cleaned up.
