CD Projekt RED acquires Digital Scapes, the studio that helped develop Cyberpunk 2077


Following the announcements of CD Projekt RED, the acquisition of Digital Scapes, a Canadian-based studio that was founded in 2012 by former employees of other major studios such as BioWare, Radical Entertainment and Relic, was revealed. The purchase consolidates a close and long collaboration that began in October 2018 for the development of Cyberpunk 2077.

"Digital Scapes has contributed a great deal of work during the making of Cyberpunk 2077, assisting in the development of the game and optimizing its various features," said Paweł Zawodny, CTO and head of production at CD Projekt RED. "In addition to contributing to our projects, the new team will help us refine our technologies and expand our skills in this regard."

With its acquisition, the studio will be renamed CD Projekt RED Vancouver, and will work in conjunction with other CD Projekt Red operations in Warsaw, Krakow and Wrocław on "upcoming projects."

While Digital Scapes' role in Cyberpunk 2077 was never fully clarified, it was assumed that he was assisting in the creation of their planned multiplayer component for the year 2022, at least planned ahead of a catastrophic launch and a notice that they would have canceled. and the possibility of implementing it.
