State home minister Harsh Sanghavi informed about e-FIR service that the police will contact the complainant within 48 hours after the filing of FIR and visit the spot of the vehicle or mobile phone theft. The police will send a report to the court after completing the investigation within 21 days, he added. The information about the filing of the online complaint and progress in the investigation will be conveyed to the complainant through Email/SMS. The police will also convey the same to the insurance company through Email/ SMS which will help the complainant to claim the insurance easily.
Online E-FIR Service Ahmedabad, Jun 8 (PTI) The Gujarat government on Wednesday announced that people can now register an “e-FIR” using the state home department’s website or mobile application to report theft of their vehicles or mobile phones.
“This new E-FIR project will not only help the public of state but also decere the workload in police stations of state by minimum 15%.” the minister informed.

The station in-charge will file an FIR if the details mentioned in the e-FIR are found to be genuine by the investigation officer. If required action is not taken on an aaplication within five days, the state government will take action against officials responsible for it, the official said. PTI PJT ARU ARU
In order to spread awareness about this E-FIR project among citizens, the Gujarat police will visit about 750 different places and inform the public about utility and uses of the application.
“For providing all citizen-centric information about the Application, the whole administration from the home minister of state to DCPs, ACPs and PIs, will reach the public through various institutes, colleges and universities in the coming days,” Sanghavi said.
State Home Minister also informed that “The awareness drive will start on 23rd July and go on till 14th August when senior officers of police and the home department will visit collages and discuss the problems of the public and the use of E-FIR applications.”
The Online E-FIR Service is integrated with Gujarat state police CCTV command and control. The vehicle number will immediately flash at CCTV command and control when the convict passes from public roads on the stolen vehicle when an e-FIR is filed. Thus, the theft cases can be immediately detected.
