At the end of 2017, Microsoft made a big announcement. The insiders were able to test the new timeline, which was later integrated into Windows 10 1803. Incidentally, the sets had also been announced, but then (unfortunately) they disappeared again.
Over time it was then possible not only to display the local history but also the history of other devices. There was also an extension to display the history from Chromium browsers. But now Microsoft has decided to provide the timeline (task view) only locally without synchronization.
This change does not affect the Azure Active Directory (AAD) in companies for the management of employees. The change has currently already been made in the new Insider under Settings => Data protection => Activity history (see picture). It is quite possible that Microsoft will also port this change back into the current Windows 10 versions. But we have to wait and see.
I have to admit, I only activated the activity history icon in the system tray when there was news from Microsoft, or when someone had problems seeing what the problem was. Otherwise, I didn't use this function. Some of you will surely miss the sync. As always, it's a matter of habit whether you work with it or not.
