Saints Row Screenwriter Inspired by Warriors and Escape from New York

Recently, more and more information has appeared about the adaptation of Saints Row, directed by F. Gary Gray and written by Greg Russo, responsible for the recent Mortal Kombat.

Russo in an interview with Collider told about the production process of the adaptation of the Saints Row series of games. The main challenge for the writer was the tone and atmosphere of all four parts - it was not easy to combine.

The difficulty with a series like Saints Row lies in the atmosphere and intonation - the first two parts were quite serious, and the rest went into complete madness. We tried to write the script in such a way as not to separate one from the other. At the same time, it was necessary to register realistic characters, but also not to forget about the trademark madness and fun.

Russo then discussed how to approach the issue of making an open-world video game. The classics of John Carpenter and Walter Hill came to the rescue.

Then the question arose: "What are we shooting at all?" How do you take an open-world game and tell a story? I turned to pictures that I adore. I'm a fan of 70s movies, so I went back to Warriors and Escape New York.

Let's see what happens.

So far, these are all the details of the film on Saints Row. The tape does not even have an approximate premiere date.
