Microsoft Edge: Stable and Beta with a small update - Canary with "Project Robin"

Yesterday the Microsoft Edge Stable received a small maintenance update to the 89.0.774.74 and in the beta to the 90.0.818.36. In the Canary, however, a new experimental function has been integrated, "Project Robin" as a flag.

This new function will primarily be of interest to corporate users. Because here untrustworthy websites are opened protected by the Microsoft Defender Application Guard in a container, which are sealed off by hardware isolation. This function is natively integrated in Windows 10 Pro or higher and also in Microsoft Edge.

So far these pages have always been opened in a new window. With the new "Project Robin", these pages can be opened as normal in a tab. This would of course be advantageous in order not to have to have several windows open. But none of this is working yet and is in the early stages. You will be redirected to the MS login page.

If you want to check whether the Microsoft Edge supports the Microsoft Defender Application Guard function at all, you only need to enter edge://application-guard-internals/ and start it in the address bar. Here you have an overview of whether this function is activated on the computer, or whether it can be executed, or whether it is possible to quickly test untrustworthy sites.
