An originally packaged "Super Mario" computer game for NES from 1985 was auctioned on Good Friday with a final bid of $ 660,000. The auction breaks the record for the most expensive game ever sold - which also came from the Super Mario series.
Heritage Auctions was once again the provider of the super-rare game. At Heritage Auctions, several computer games in their original packaging have been auctioned off in recent years. Some of the specimens achieved really crazy high prices. Now there is a new world record. An originally packaged Super Mario Bros. for NES was sold for 660,000 dollars - the equivalent of more than 561,000 euros.

Not a bargain, but with an increase in value
In the run-up to the auction, the auction house had already done a lot to ensure that this game was not a bargain. The history of the original games has been followed and it has been declared that they have never had such a "treasure" on offer:
That Nintendo put the brand symbol for the Nintendo Entertainment System on the game boxes from the beginning of 1987. That certainly doesn't leave much time for this variant to be produced in between! "
Absolute bestseller
How many copies of the game are left is unknown. However, there will be very few in such a state or a similar one. The original "Super Mario Bros." has sold more than 40 million times in its long history. It started back in the mid-1980s. The new buyer is even speculating on a decent price increase. The auctioneer says that you can buy the game from him - the new starting bid is $ 990,000.
Since there are some crazy collectors who are willing to pay a lot of money for old computer games and rare issues, the price is now increasing.
