Windows 10, Microsoft is rolling out a new Windows Feature Experience Pack

Microsoft has released a new Windows Feature Experience Packs for users enrolled in the Windows Insider program. They are intended for PCs running Windows 10 21H1 (Beta channel) or 20H2 (Preview channel).

The new version is numbered 120.2212.3530.0. It is deployed as part of the Windows Insiders program. We should not expect a revolution. Only one change is announced. The giant is making improvements around the list of "Candidates" offered to users by the IME.

Windows 10, what is Windows Feature Experience Packs?

With the Windows Feature Experience Packs Microsoft is testing a new approach to improve certain features of Windows 10.

The goal is simple. These Packs make it possible not to deploy a complete construction of the operating system. Certain functionalities can thus evolve independently of Windows 10. In this way, the update process becomes simpler and faster. It is possible to try new things without having to trigger a full update of the OS.

Microsoft Explains

“With Windows Feature Experience Packs, we can improve certain features and experiences that are now developed independently of the OS. Currently, only a limited number of features are developed in this way. Ultimately, these Windows Feature Experience Packs will be folded through standard Windows 10 maintenance and offered through Windows Update."

Regarding Windows 10, the next big meeting is set for next fall. Windows 10 21H2 promises to be a major feature update with many new features. We should also expect a redesign of the desktop interface with changes to the taskbar, the start menu but also the file explorer. In the meantime, Windows 10 21H1 will normally be offered. Its deployment is scheduled for the spring. Microsoft has already confirmed that this is going to be a "small" update. It will be offered in the form of a so-called "quality" update via the Windows Update maintenance service.
