They Test The Final Overclocked Intel Core i7-11700K CPU, Surpassed By The Ryzen 7!

So far we have only seen engineering samples or "Qualification Samples", but now we have final tests of the Intel Core i7-11700K in Cinebench R20 and 3DMark with overclock to 4.9 GHz on all cores.

In theory, they could be reserved on March 16, being definitively released for March 30. However, MindFactory, one of the largest German computer online stores, has listed the processors for pre-order a few days ago, allowing customers to get the Intel Core i7-11700K a month before launch.

Intel Core i7-11700K is tested at 4.9 GHz, worse than the Ryzen 7 5800X

First, give credit to the ComputerBase, PCGamesHardware and HardwareLuxx forums for posting photos of the Intel Core i7-11700K, as well as various synthetic tests. The package will be the usual Intel, as well as the exterior design of the chip has hardly changed.

This processor equips 8 cores, 16 threads, 16 MB of cache memory and offers a base frequency of 3.6 GHz and 2 turbos: 5.00 GHz in a single core and 4.6 GHz in all. Its specifications are completed with a TDP of 125W, but whose figure rises up to 250W in PL2.

The test bench used for the tests that will be shown below is the following:

Baseplate

MSI MEG Z490I Unify / ASRock Z590M-ITX / ax

Processor

Intel Core i7-11700K stock / 4.9 GHz

RAM

16 GB G.Skill Ares 3200 MHz / 32 GB DDR4-3600 MHz

Liquid refrigeration

Xilence LiquRizer 240

Graphics card

AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT with BAR and RM enabled

The tests have been done with overclock to 4.9 GHz and with frequencies in stock. The i7-11700K has been tested on Cinebench R20, R23, Time Spy, and CPU-Z.

Testing with 4.9 GHz overclock

Users have shared their CPU-Z and GPU-Z screenshots, as well as overclocking settings and synthetic benchmarks. We start with the initial system spec screenshots.

Also, the captures related to overclocking the system from the BIOS.

We go with the first benchmark of the i7-11700K, which is Cinebench R20, obtaining the following scores:

  • Multi Core: 5705 points .
  • Single Core: 599 points.

If we compare this with the Ryzen 7 5800X, which is its rival, the Intel Rocket Lake-S processor is very disadvantaged. The AMD chip scores 6,160 points in multicore and 624 points in single-core, beating the Intel CPU in both cases.

Later, Cinebench R23 would come, showing us only the result in Multi Core, which is 14718 points. However, if we go to the Cinebench R23 database in cpu-monkey, we will see that the Ryzen 7 5800X surpasses it again with 15,245 points.

We move on to the Time Spy and Time Spy Extreme tests, in which the GPU we use is quite important. In this case, the benchmark comes with an RX 6900 XT, so we have searched the 3DMark database for a similar setup with the Ryzen 7 5800X in Time Spy and Time Spy Extreme. The results are the following:

Intel Core i7-11700KRyzen 7 5800X
Time Spy1658020071
Time Spy Extreme81409614

Finally, the same user tested the Intel Core i7-11700K on CPU-Z, with the AVX2 and AVX-512 instructions enabled. The results are the following.

Intel Core i7-11700K release date and price

Its launch is scheduled for March 30, although reservations will be enabled on March 16. There seems to be no news on the price, but it seems that the Intel Core i7-11700K would be positioned around € 470, while the i9 about € 550.

Against it, the Ryzen 7 5800X, with a premium included, is now available for € 470.

Do you stay with Ryzen 7 or with Intel Core 7? Do you think there will be a fight?
