There are more sales of RTX 3060 in 1 week than RX 6000 in 2 months - eBay data

The NVIDIA RTX 3060 has been with us for a week now, and the first sales data is interesting. Yesterday we were talking about a study that measured the sale prices on eBay of different GPUs, where we also found data on the volume of sales. This is where we have the first data from the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060, which, as we see, is very far from the AMD RX 6900 XT and RX 6800 XT.

More RTX 3060s have been sold on eBay in its first week than RX 6000 in 2 months

During this first week, or rather the first 4 days (by the publication date of that study) approximately 140 RTX 3060 graphics cards have been sold on eBay. The most alarming thing about this is the sale prices, whose median value has been $ 900, compared to the official price of $ 329. None of the GPUs sold came the least bit close to this price: the closest is just three sales that are more or less under $ 600.

According to HardwareTimes, this figure contrasts with the numbers of the last months of the RX 6800 XT and RX 6900 XT, 25 and 16 units respectively.

And it is that the market for the sale of graphics cards is being monopolized by all miners and scalpers, where the former want to buy one to use in mining and the latter want to do so to resell it precisely to the miners at a higher price. It is an unfortunate speculation bubble in which thousands of people participate, with the fundamental accompaniment.

NVIDIA bragged about limiting their RTX 3060 for mining when in reality they were only acting against one of the three most profitable algorithms.

The purchase of GPUs for mining is something that we really understand that we should not criticize because being reasonable and objective is as valid use as others, just as who buys a gaming GPU for artificial intelligence is not criticized. But with the number of problems they cause to the market, it is understandable that manufacturers like NVIDIA decide to impose some kind of software limitation on their use. The problem is that, as we say, what has been done with the RTX 3060 is insufficient. They are still usable graphics for mining.

In contrast, the AMD RX 6000 is rather limited by the hardware itself, as AMD removed some of the features that made the previous GCN architecture excellent for computing.

If we add this to the fact that RDNA 2 graphics output is at a low while other AMD products (such as the console chips themselves), we can easily understand such low numbers.
