That crossplay is something that has come to stay is a fact, nothing new to this day with this. It is something that we should all assume. Something that everything is said, is very positive for the industry. Playing with friends on other platforms was something we dreamed of 15 years ago, and today it is viable and possible, and more and more games are betting on it.
Unfortunately, all that glitters in this field is not gold. Although it is true that we have advanced, there are some obstacles that still puzzle me and I do not really know who should be responsible for them. I imagine that ultimately it is the developer who must take care of this.
The crossplay is still green, at least
Today I want to focus on the crossplay between Xbox and Playstation, something that you can also apply to other platforms but as it has touched me closely, it is what there is. The list of compatible games between the American and Japanese brands is somewhat lower than what you can find with Nintendo Switch for example, but there is not a huge difference in this regard.
These are the games that we have located today with support for cross-play between the two consoles. I recommend that you follow our post that we update frequently if you want to be up to date.
- Brawlhalla
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
- Dauntless
- Dead by daylight
- Fortnite.
- Minecraft Bedrock Edition.
- Phantasy Star Online 2.
- Paladins: Champions of the Realm.
- Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid.
- PUBG.
- Realm Royale.
- Rocket League.
- Spacelords.
- SMITE.
- World of Warships Legends.
- Worlds of Tanks.
- World War Z.
Let's go to the trouble. It turns out that while playing cross-platform is great, most of the games on the list, except for AAA, lack cross-voice chat. It seems silly, it is not. In a move that is out of all logic, even Minecraft lacks this between Switch PS and Xbox ...
With confinement, games between friends have grown, and if you have children, you may have already faced this problem. It is not unusual to search for information on certain games so that your children can play. From Brawlhalla to Rocket League, the list of games without cross voice chat is horrible.
The Microsoft solution no one wants to use
For some time Microsoft has offered, thanks to the Azure Playfab tools, a solution to bring voice chats to any game. A solution that for some strange reason they have forgotten to implement in Minecraft ... The fact is that it is not being used at the moment and it attracts attention.
Americans do not care who uses their tools and the platform, they want to be everywhere. But the problem is that they do not seem attractive enough that minor games like Brawlhalla have decided to implement them.
As I said, the decision and obligation to bring tools and options of this style is the responsibility of the developers. If Sony, Microsoft or Nintendo have not hindered voice chats in Call of Duty or Fortnite, they should not put them in other games.
