Restart Windows 10 apps, activate or deactivate them in the case of a restart, via the start menu

In the Windows 10 settings under Accounts -> Login options you can restart your apps when you restart, if you set "Restart apps" to On. Is of course cumbersome if you only need it now and then.

In the current Insider, Microsoft has now integrated a function that is currently still hidden. This setting has been added to the start menu under On / Off. If you want to restart once and only open the apps immediately, then check the box there and then press restart.

After the restart, the apps and programs that can handle this function open. The description also says “My apps, which can be restarted….” After restarting you shouldn't forget to remove the check mark. Because with the tick the function is activated / set to "On" in the settings.

You save time by not having to work your way through the settings. Only those who otherwise always allow the open apps and programs to start, the entry is actually useless for them. It is possible that I am wrong. Because for me this setting is always on "Off". how do you see it?

Anyone who has installed the current Insider version can activate the function.

  • Download and unzip ViVeTool
  • In the folder above, start the File -> PowerShell -> PowerShell (administrator) tab
  • Enter cmd Enter
  • Enter Vivetool.exe addconfig 30848613 2 and press Enter
