Kepler, a Twitter user, has leaked very relevant data about the upcoming AMD RX 6600 XT. We know it will come with Infinity Cache, Navi 23, and 8GB GDDR6. However, it would have fewer shaders (CUs), memory bus, ROPs, TMUs, and bandwidth than the Radeon RX 5600 XT.
The Radeon RX 6000 mid-range will be defined by the RX 6600 XT and RX 6700, which are focused at 1080p, leaving the RX 6700 XT onwards for 1440p. One of the novelties is in the incorporation of Infinity Cache, but the news focuses on the little power that it would bring with respect to the previous model. We give the first brushstrokes to this curious GPU.

Twitter user Kepler has leaked new data from the RX 6600 XT, which will be powered by a Navi 23 GPU that will be accompanied by 8 GB GDDR6 of VRAM memory. Unlike its older sisters, it will have 32 MB of Infinity Cache and a memory bus of only 128 bits.
Its memory bus is understood to be smaller because it's a 1080p-targeted GPU, but the other specs squeak a bit when compared to the RX 5600 XT. First of all, it comes with 2048 shaders, while the previous model had 2304. Also, it is suspected that it will have fewer ROPs and TMUs than the RX 5600 XT; even, if such is, we will see less memory bus and bandwidth.
RX 5600 XT | RX 6600 XT | |
GPU | Navi 10 | Navi 23 |
Shaders | 2304 | 2048 |
Memory | 6 GB | 8 GB |
Memory bus | 192-bit | 128-bit |
Infinity Cache | NO | 32 MB |
ROP | 64 | 32 |
TMU | 144 | 128 |
Ray Accelerators | NO | No one knows yet |
Bandwidth | 288 GB / s | 192 GB / s |
With all this, it must be emphasized that the RX 6600 XT will incorporate the 1st generation Ray Accelerators, which are the alternative to the NVIDIA RT Cores. The source points out that the few CUs offered by the new AMD RX 6600 XT can be based on the impact of 1080p, being assisted with 32 MB of L3 cache.
Will this be enough? Well, it must be said that both NVIDIA and AMD have optimized their new RDNA 2 and Ampere GPUs very well. We have seen cases like the RTX 3060 that comes with less hardware than some Turing graphics cards and offers better performance, especially in Ray Tracing.
Although rare, more is not always better, and it should be noted that the RX 5000 series does not support Ray Tracing, while the RDNA 2 does. Likewise, we discovered how to use Ray Tracing on any AMD GPU, but we anticipate that the performance is not amazing.
Van Gogh will come without Infinity Cache
The same user took the opportunity to reveal some detail of the iGPU present in Van Gogh, about which a lot has been rumored. Well, it seems that you will not have Infinity Cache in order to save space, having only 2 MB of L2 cache.
It is clear that Infinity Cache is reserved for the RX 6000, although it remains to be seen if the RX 6000M will have this built-in L3 cache. My opinion is that they surely come with this memory in a portable version.
Are you disappointed by these specifications?
