PowerColor has announced the RX 6700 Fighter with 6GB GDDR6, confirming that the non-XT model will come with less VRAM memory. In theory, its rival would be the RTX 3060 with 12 GB GDDR6, so it seems that AMD would fall away in terms of performance.
It seems that AMD could fall short in FPS for the new titles that come out, but especially if we compare it with the RTX 3060. Given the rumors of the 6 GB GDDR6, PowerColor dissipates hard after the presentation of its RX 6700 Fighter, which will come with that configuration. In theory, this model is geared towards 1440p gaming, but it might be a bit of a high target, right?
Recently, we said that the new minimum in VRAM memory was going to be 8 GB GDDR6 since the games that are coming out consume more resources and 6 GB can fall short. This was something you saw coming with the RTX 2060, so NVIDIA snapped up and introduced their RTX 3060 with 12GB GDDR6.
It seems that AMD has done other calculations, and the Radeon RX 6700 is confirmed to come with 6GB GDDR6, given the PowerColor presentation. At the time, Professional Review echoed the possibility that the RX 6700 equates to 6GB GDDR6.
Furthermore, we also report on the registration of RX 6700 Gigabyte with 12GB GDDR6 (see source), which itself would make more sense. That said, it looks like AMD and NVIDIA will do the same:
- We could see RX 6700 with 6 and 12 GB GDDR6.
- The RTX 3060 would have a 6GB GDDR6 model, according to the Gainward news (check source).
Based on the leaks that have been produced, it appears that the RX 6700 would have a memory speed of 16 Gbps, a Navi 22 GPU, and a 192-bit memory bus. After seeing that AMD compared its RX 6700 XT to the RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3070, it is clear to us that this RX 6700 has a goal to beat the RTX 3060.
Regarding the rest of the specifications, the source points out that the RX 6700 will be a “downgrade” of the RX 6700 XT, seeing CUs similar to the RX 5700: around 36.
Although AMD believes that this GPU can give a great performance in 1440p, my opinion is directed to 1080p, at least in new games. Of course, for those who are enough to play at 60 FPS, this RX 6700 from PowerColor may be a great option.
When it comes to mining, don't expect great performance because the RX 6700 XT barely reaches 47 MH / s, which is less than the RTX 3060. So the RX 6700 could move around 35 MH / s. , but it remains to be seen if the consumption of this is of interest.
AMD Radeon RX 6700 release date
According to our sources, AMD will launch the Radeon RX 6700 in April at an “official price” that will range between € 300 and € 400, falling below the RX 6700 XT and positioning itself in the mid-range.
AMD will launch its reference design, but we will also see custom models, as we have seen the PowerColor. In the meantime, take a look at the RX 6700 XT review we did in Professional Review, and you can get an idea of what performance you can expect from the 6700.
What do you expect from this GPU?
