OnePlus today announced its new top-of-the-range smartphone, the OnePlus 9 Pro, which was accompanied by a more affordable variant for those who don't want the best of the best, the OnePlus 9, and a lite variant dubbed the OnePlus 9R.
OnePlus 9 Pro
Started by his strong point, a screen AMOLED of 6.7 inches that differs from the rest to make the leap to a resolution Quad HD + of 3216 x 1440 pixels @ 120 Hz with a maximum brightness of 1300 nits powered by the SoC Snapdragon 888 accompanied by 8GB / 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM along with 128GB / 256GB of non-expandable UFS 3.1 storage, in a waterproof chassis (IP68) that hides a 4500 mAh battery with 65W fast charge and 50W wireless charge.
In addition to the screen, its other strong point is in the photographic section, where we have a heavyweight like Hasselblad putting its name to photographic quality with a 48-megapixel IMX789 main sensor co-developed with Sony with the latest technologies on the market (dual native ISO, Digital Overlap HDR (DOL-HDR), 2x2 on-chip lens (OCL) and OIS).
This sensor is supported by a 50 megapixel Sony IMX766 wide angle (macro capable), an 8 megapixel telephoto lens (3.3x optical magnification ) and a 2 MP monochrome sensor . Going back to the main sensor, it's capable of producing 12-bit RAW images, capturing 4K @ 120 FPS or 8K @ 30 FPS video, and has a Hasselblad Pro mode for the experts.
Finishing with the specifications, at the technology level, we have the Fluid Display 2.0, which takes advantage of the LTPO panel to save up to 50% energy in general use. This translates very easily, a Variable Refresh Rate from 1 to 120 Hz, where when turning off the screen it goes to 1 Hz, when watching a movie at the cinematic 24 Hz, or to the limit that allows a game, such as 90 Hz in Fortnite. For gamers, a 240 Hz Touch Samplinng Rate is added, it loads from 0 to 100% in 43 minutes, and is already on sale at a price of 909 euros (8GB / 128GB) and 999 euros (12GB / 256GB).
OnePlus 9
The economic variant uses a 6.55 "flat panel Full HD + @ 120 Hz at 1100 nits, the main sensor is an older one, the Sony IMX690 that loses the DOL-HDR for the traditional HDR and is limited to 4K @ 60 FPS video, and loses the telephoto lens.
The rest of the specifications are maintained, except for the wireless fast charging, which is 15W, and both also share a double stereo speaker with Dolby Atmos, haptic engines for vibration, the same 16-megapixel selfie camera, and its price is of 709 euros (8GB / 128GB) and 809 euros (12GB / 256GB).
OnePlus 9R
A quick summary would be to tell you that it is an OnePlus 8T with the Snapdragon 870 SoC and a new 6.55-inch Fluid AMOLED Full HD + @ 120 Hz panel with a Touch Sampling Rate of 240 Hz.
Otherwise it is the same: quad rear camera of 48 + 16 + 5 + 2 megapixels (main sensor + ultra wide angle + macro + monochrome), it is capable of capturing 4K @ 60 FPS video, we have a 4500 mAh battery with fast charge of 65W and its price to change is 465 euros (8GB / 128GB) and 510 euros (12GB / 256GB).
