Noctua announces the NH-U12S Redux, its most affordable 12cm heatsink

The Noctua redux product line is well known for the low prices of its fans, but for a few months, it has been known that the brand was preparing to launch this series in heatsinks. That moment has come, and we finally have among us the new Noctua NH-U12S redux, a heatsink that will surprise you with the quality it offers for its low price.

Noctua NH-U12S redux: an affordable heatsink for only 50 euros

This Noctua NH-U12S redux maintains the same design as the original NH-U12S, which made it one of the most famous heatsinks on the market for combining high performance with a design that gives it good compatibility and is quite compact. Specifically, we are guaranteed 100% compatibility with high RAM modules, and we will not have great limitations when choosing a box.

Where we have the big change is in the fan, since now a PWM fan NF-P12 redux-1700 is used, which allows a significant reduction in the cost of the heatsink. This one uses an SSO bearing from Noctua, which is basically the version before its SSO2, so we can expect its thermal and sonic performance to not be that good, but it still maintains decent levels and of course, we are also backed by 6 years of manufacturer's guarantee.

We also maintain many advantages for buyers of a normal NH-U12S, based on the aforementioned warranty, in addition to the right to a totally free mounting kit if Intel or AMD change their docking systems in the future, something that could in fact happen with Intel Alder Lake CPUs by the end of the year or in 2022.

However, we must not forget that adapters included in the normal U12S are omitted, for example, and we are left with the heatsink itself and that's it. We don't even have a tube of NT-H1 thermal paste, it comes pre-applied.

The company advertises this cooler as "a perfect choice for anyone who has always wanted a Noctua cooler but couldn't justify the investment."

Specifically, the starting price of the new heatsink has been 49.90 euros / dollars, a figure that fits the low-end very well and is sure to be enjoyed by a large number of users. The brand has also announced its NA-FK1 kit, for those who want to have what the redux packaging omits. Specifically, it includes another NF-P12 redux-1700, mounting clips, anti-vibration pads, a Y-shaped splitter, and Low Noise Adapters. This update has a reasonable price of 16.90 euros.

We already have full availability of the new heatsinks from the Austrian company, specifically, we have the NH-U12S redux managed on Amazon at the same retail price, in addition to the NA-FK1 upgrade kit.

Undoubtedly, the new Noctua proposal has been thinking of breaking the market, because in recent years they have never offered such a cheap heatsink except for those with a lower profile that is less attractive to users. What do you think?
