The PC case is one of those components that often "survives" hardware upgrades and upgrades, and we rarely decide to throw it out and buy a new one as long as the current one is in good condition. However, there are other reasons why you would want to renew your PC case, and in this article, we are going to tell you what they are.
Obviously, behind are those ivory boxes designed for the computers of yesteryear (although it is true that lovers of retro computing have made very curious mods using old boxes with modern hardware), and really the PC case can become the most durable component of a computer and will survive generations of hardware upgrades, as long as you take good care of it.
Is it necessary to renew the PC case?
From now on we say no, as long as your current box meets your needs and you keep it in good condition. The bad part about the boxes is that they are the ones that are in contact with the "outside world", and therefore are quite prone to getting dusty inside and out, but leaving that aside it is not an element that, it suffers wear and tear and needs to be changed unless you are constantly changing hardware because in the end the screws can end up being over-threaded or you can accidentally damage parts.
Leaving that aside, as a general rule you do not need to renew your PC case ever except in some cases that we are going to comment on below.
Unsupported hardware (including connectivity)
Fortunately or unfortunately, many users start by purchasing an OEM PC, and many times these manufacturers use custom boxes for their hardware in which other types of components cannot be installed. In this case, when the time comes when you want to update your PC's hardware, you may find that an ATX format motherboard does not fit, that the graphics card does not fit, or that the anchoring points of the power supply do not They match the new ones, not to mention whether you want to install a large or liquid-cooled heatsink and there are no anchor points for radiators.
Another reason why you might want to renew your PC case is, for example, because it does not have modern connectivity. If the case of your PC, even if it is in good condition, does not have USB 3.0 connectivity, for example, it is not the end of the world because you could make a Mod or install an expansion kit in a 3.5 / 5.25 ″ bay ( that if it is that old it probably still has these) for example, but ideally, it already has modern connectivity on the front panel, so this can certainly be a potential reason why you might want to renew your PC case.
Aesthetics and design
PC users and especially gamers tend to be quite a sybarite in terms of the aesthetics and design of our equipment, and therefore if your box is a few years old (even if you have it perfectly clean and in good condition) it is quite its aesthetics may not suit your needs and preferences. And let's face it, even gamers get tired of always seeing the same box on the table and they like to change.
As we said at the beginning, the general lines are normal that you never need to renew the PC case, unless you do not get the new hardware, you want to expand the connectivity of the equipment, or of course, you want to change its aesthetics or design.
