Raja Koduri just gave some hints on the performance that Intel's upcoming Xe-HPG GPUs could deliver.
Intel Xe-HPG, they anticipate that it will have a similar performance to the RTX 3070
From 2012 to 2021 - same Intel Folsom lab, many of the same engineers with more grey hair , I was at Apple back then, getting hands on with pre-production crystalwell, 9 years later playing with a GPU that’s >20x faster! pic.twitter.com/RgmRJuhOXw

The chief architect of Intel's upcoming GPUs, Raja Koduri, has given clues about the performance of the Xe-HPG GPUs, which the American company has been planning for a few years.
Raja Koduri has said that the performance that Xe-HPG will offer is "20 times faster" than the Crystal Well architecture of 2013. Doing some calculations, the performance would be equivalent to that of an Nvidia RTX 3070, so he would be talking about silicon more powerful and comprehensive from HPG.
If true, Intel could enter the market for discrete graphics cards strongly to compete with Nvidia and AMD, as long as prices are right.
Intel Xe HPG will be the brand's first dedicated GPU for the gaming segment in a long time, so the first iteration with this performance seems like a very good omen.
Nvidia and AMD seem to be very well established in the graphics card segment with their GeForce and Radeon series, so it will not be easy to enter this segment with a strong third alternative. One of the advantages that Intel will have is that they can be self-sufficient with the manufacture of their own chips and do not depend on third parties, as in the case of AMD and Nvidia.
The first Intel Xe-HPG graphics cards could be announced later this year with high expectations from PC gamers. We will keep you informed.
