Intel announces its new Tiger Lake-U- based vPro processors with performance and efficiency improvements. They are chips focused on the professional world and will power laptops together with the Intel Evo certification. The Core i7-1185G7 will lead this 11th generation of 10nm processors.
After AMD presented it's Ryzen 5000 PRO, Intel fights back with its vPro that will come with several new features and a performance increase. Intel will make use of its 10nm SuperFin, and other assets that work very well on its platform: Thunderbolt 4, Wi-Fi 6, iGPU Iris Xe and the use of AI and Deep Learning. We thoroughly review this presentation.
Intel 11th Gen vPro Announced: Specifications
Intel focuses its new vPro platform on IT staff and end-users who want the best performance and the longest possible autonomy at the same time. Intel's weapon for its CPUs is the Willow Cove architecture, which is used on servers and client platforms, in addition to succeeding Sunny Cove.
The iGPU that we find inside these chips will be based on the Iris Xe architecture, which makes use of AI for its graphics acceleration. Intel promises an overall performance improvement of 1.19 times over the 10th generation vPro, but the highlight has been the AI performance: 8 times the performance.
As a line of processors focused on professionals, Intel has wanted to provide them with exclusive security:
- Comprehensive hardware and AI-based protection to prevent ransomware and cryptocurrency mining.
- AES-NI disk encryption.
- Hardware Shield.
- OS security
- Application and data security.
- Intelligent threat detection.
Additionally, Intel has proposed a research community rewards program whereby it rewards us for discovering vulnerabilities.
In terms of remote management, Intel vPro supports Intel AMT, a power failure management assistant to remotely repair a PC. For this, it is a system that is based on the cloud.
Finally, he wanted to emphasize the Intel Evo certification as a standard for the user. In this case, 2 certifications are raised at the same time on commercial laptops: vPro and Intel Evo.
Its specifications are as follows:
