The presentation and launch of Intel Rocket Lake-S come to an end, and this March 30 they are presented with a starting price of € 259.90. We will not have Intel Core i3, but we will have processors that improve the performance of Comet Lake-S up to 19%.
Intel presents its 11th generation of desktop processors for gamers and enthusiasts looking for the highest possible FPS. They follow the Cypress Cove architecture and are built on a 14nm node, but their interior design pushes them to offer a better IPC, a much more powerful iGPU, and improved performance thanks to AI.
Intel Introduces Rocket Lake-S: Cypress Cove Was Key
Although it took a while to present them (CES 2021) and launch them on the market, it must be said that we already analyzed the i9-11900K and the i5-11600K in Professional Review. The motto used by "the blue giant" is " designed to play ", clearly focusing on gaming performance that goes beyond what is experienced.
As visible head, we will have the i9-11900K, a chip with 8 cores, 16 threads, and a top frequency of 5.3 GHz, in addition to 16 MB of Intel Smart Cache. Among the novelties is the native support of DDR4-3200, but Intel makes it clear what its characteristic notes are:
- Up to 19% IPC improvement over Comet Lake-S.
- Up to 50% improved integrated graphics performance thanks to Intel Xe.
- Incorporation of Intel Deep Learning Boost and Vector Neural Network instructions to support acceleration by Artificial Intelligence.
- Improved the tools overclock, bringing more flexible and overclock settings.
Another noteworthy note is the RAM memory overclocking support on the H570 and B560 chipsets, allowing users to get the most out of their modules. Also, support for AVX2 and AVX-512 instructions has been added. We can already talk seriously about PCI-Express 4.0 at Intel, as we will see 20 PCIe 4.0 rails that will work like a charm with the Intel 500 chipset.
The list of 11th generation Intel desktop processors is finally unveiled.
The Ryzen 5 5600X will have it complicated with the i5, which manage to position itself at the same prices as usual. When we go to 8 cores, we have the i7s at slightly lower prices than the Ryzen 7 5800X, although the i9-11900K is more expensive than a Ryzen 9 5900X equipped with 12 cores and 24 threads.
What do you think of the price of Intel Rocket Lake-S? Do you think its performance is good?
