iMac Pro is the end of the current generation

iMac Pro 2017

Apple decides to end the current version of the iMac Pro. The computer is now living its last days. On the official website of the manufacturer, its purchase is still possible but within the limits of available stocks.

This finding is not surprising. 2020 was marked by an important decision on the part of Apple. After more than 10 years of partnership with Intel, the firm decided for various reasons to take a step back. Clearly, the Apple brand has decided to develop its own processors. The first products have already been launched and slowly but surely the range continues its transformation towards the adoption of the ARM architecture.

iMac Pro (Intel), the end is near

Apple iMac Pro Computer

This is now the fate of the iMac Pro under an Intel processor. The computer is still sold but with the mention "within the limits of available stocks". Better still, it can no longer be personalized. When purchasing it, only one configuration is possible. It is based on a 10-core Intel Xeon W processor at 3 GHz, 32 GB of ECC memory at 2666 MHz, a 1 TB SSD, 10 Gigabit Ethernet, four Thunderbolt 3 ports, a Radeon Pro Vega 56 graphics solution with 8 GB of HBM2 and a monitor equipped with a 27-inch panel providing a definition of 5120 x 2888 pixels. Its price is 5,499 €.

This generation landed in December 2017 with pricing between 5,500 euros and 15,550 euros depending on the equipment and options chosen.

According to rumors Apple will announce in a few days its new iMac equipped with an ARM processor. It is said that we must prepare for a major overhaul of the offer. Clearly, the next iMacs do not only offer new mechanics. The basic design of the computer would also be reviewed. This big meeting would be set for March 16, 2021.
