In the smartphone market, there are no secrets. Devices that reach the market without their existence, technical data and even appearance are already known to the press and the public, as a result of “leaks” originating from manufacturers, partners or sometimes even companies themselves. But few things more legitimize a leak than the mention of a device in an official Google document.
It happened this weekend, when the company updated the list of devices with support for ARCore, an augmented reality feature of Android that is used, for example, to bring 3D animals from search results to your living room.
The list has been updated with 23 devices, of which eleven have not yet been launched or even announced by their manufacturers. Are they:
- Asus Zenfone 8 Flip
- LG Stylo 7
- Motorola Moto G100
- Oppo Reno 5 A
- Bosch Oppo Reno 5 Pro + 5G
- realme 8 Pro
- Samsung A52 4G
- Samsung A72 4G
- Samsung A82 5G
- TCL 20 Pro 5G
- ZTE Z6650S
Some of the models mentioned are already known for rumors. The LG Stylo 7 , for example, is a smartphone from LG with a pen (like the Galaxy Note) and support for 5G, which we got to know last December.
The Galaxy A52 and A72 are intermediate smartphones that had their specifications leaked in February. They are due to be officially presented this Wednesday (17th) at an event called “Galaxy Awesome Unpacked”, which will be held virtually. Another stamped sticker is the Moto G100, whose existence was indicated in February.
Obviously, the list didn't stay on the air long: as soon as the news spread, Google removed all 23 devices that had been added to the list, including models already on sale like the Moto G10 and G30. Certainly a quick measure for “damage control”.
