Galaxy A22 5G to arrive as Samsung's cheapest 5G phone

Since last year, Samsung began bringing 5G connectivity to more affordable price segments in its extensive portfolio. The first token of this was the launch of the Samsung Galaxy A42 5G, which came as the company's cheapest 5G device at the time. In mid-January of this year, we met the Samsung Galaxy A32 5G claiming that title. However, the company is not satisfied with this and is now working on a more affordable 5G terminal: the Samsung Galaxy S22 5G.

The first time the Samsung Galaxy A22 5G was mentioned for the first time was at the end of last year. At that time, South Korean media indicated that it would arrive in the second half of 2021. Now, before the official announcement of this device, some first details have been leaked.

The source of the leak is the GalaxyClub medium. According to the publication, the future Galaxy A22 5G will be identified with the model number SM-A226B. Unlike most Samsung phones, this will be an ODM device. This means that it will not actually be manufactured by Samsung, but will be ordered from another company or another phone from another renowned company, serving as a way to save manufacturing costs.

Two settings and four colors

Also, this phone is said to be available in two memory and storage configurations. Customers will be able to choose it in up to four color options: gray, white, light green, or purple. Last but not least, Samsung will sell this phone in both Asia and Europe.

Unfortunately, at the moment this is all that is known about the future Samsung Galaxy A22 5G. Key details of its specifications or pricing are not yet available. To have a certain reference, the Samsung Galaxy A32 5G was announced for a price of 279 euros in Europe.

The sacrifices to add 5G

In the Galaxy A32 5G, the inclusion of next-generation networks forced the company to make significant cuts in certain sections. The most notable is its screen, which instead of using the company's classic AMOLED technology, used the much cheaper TFT LCD, and even lowered the resolution of this panel to HD +. A 4G variant of the Galaxy A32 was recently announced offering a 90Hz AMOLED screen and a better camera at a lower price.
