The GSMA is the organization responsible for MWC 2021, which seeks to hold it in person at the end of June this year. Despite the health situation in Spain, a plan with security measures was presented this week that would allow its organization. Although firms such as Facebook and Oracle have already confirmed that they will not be present.
Facebook and Oracle will not attend MWC 2021
This week there have already been several companies that have said that they will not attend, such as Ericsson or Nokia, questioning whether this event will finally be held.
Cancellations
Facebook already confirmed last year that they were not going to attend any physical event until at least June of this year. They have opened up to the possibility of participating virtually in MWC 2021, but it is not something that is known if it will happen or if the organization of the event will allow, which continues to seek for this event to be held in person at any cost.
This week there are already several cancellations, of names of importance, such as the social network, Oracle, Nokia, or Ericsson. They were also among the first to cancel last year, so many fear history will repeat itself.
The GSMA clearly seeks that MWC 2021 be held in person, although the many cancellations put this in doubt. It will be necessary to see if they finally bet on a hybrid, with some virtual presentations, as they search from Facebook, but there is nothing confirmed or certain yet.
