Core i7-11700K is up to 10% faster in games than i9-10900K

A comparative review has been published between the i7-11700K and the i9-10900K in video games, one of the most useful tests that we are going to find on this processor, which will be released in the next few weeks.

Core i7-11700K is up to 10% faster than i9-10900K in gaming performance

CapFrameX has released new benchmarks for the Intel Core i7-11700K desktop CPU using the Rocket Lake architecture. The CPU occupies about 8 cores and 16 threads with a base clock speed of 3.6 GHz, 4.6 GHz on all cores, and 5 GHz on a single core.

These tests were apparently conducted with a new BIOS that promises to improve the performance of the Rocket Lake-S processors somewhat. The performance test and comparison were done with a Z590 motherboard with the new BIOS. The graphics card was a GeForce RTX 3090 and some 32GB of 3200MHz DDR4 RAM was added with a single channel to test the i7-11700K and dual-channel to test the Comet Lake-S i9-10900K processor.

In total, three video games have been tested; Crysis Remastered, Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order, and Cyberpunk 2077.

In Crysis Remastered, the Intel Core i7-11700K is 6% faster than the i9-10900K. In Cyberpunk 2077 the difference is 2%, and in Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order there is a difference of 10%, both in favor of the Rocket Lake-S piece.

Keep in mind that the i9-10900K offers more cores and a higher boost clock speed (5.3 GHz), even so, it does not manage to beat the 11700K in any test.

We'll see if this is enough to become a tempting option for gamers, especially considering the Ryzen 5000 (Zen 3) chips in video games. We will keep you informed.
