ThunderboltEX 4 is the new Asus card that adds Thunderbolt 4 ports to any PC that needs them using a PCI-Express connector.
Asus ThunderboltEX 4 adds Thunderbolt ports to any PC
The Asus card is extremely useful for adding two additional Thunderbolt 4 ports that can supply 100 watts of power each. You can also add two USB-C ports, with which we can add a monitor through this port without having to connect the monitor to the power. Thunderbolt 4 ports can also support DisplayPort 1.4 pass-through.
The card is very easy to install to almost any modern PC by simply connecting it to a PCIe port on the motherboard. Of course, there are some requirements that not everyone will be able to meet to use it.
The computer needs to use an ASUS motherboard that has a Thunderbolt Readiness header. This head is used to provide timing and other commands. Without this head, the card will not be able to function. Additionally, a USB 2.0 slot, a PCIe 3.0 x4 interface, and an additional 6-pin PCIe power input are required. Most of ASUS 'high-end motherboards are likely to meet this requirement.
In this way, the ThunderboltEX 4 can connect up to five Thunderbolt devices to allow a significantly greater amount of connectivity for your PC.
Users can connect three devices and two Thunderbolt monitors or connect four devices and a single Thunderbolt monitor.
ASUS has yet to announce the price of the ThunderboltEX 4 card or when it will be available. You can see more information on the official product page.
