ASUS HYPER M.2 X16, expansion card to add 4 NVMe SSDs

ASUS is marketing its HYPER M.2 X16 expansion card that allows adding up to four SSDs through the PCIe 4.0 interface.

ASUS HYPER M.2 X16, expansion card to add 4 NVMe SSDs launches later this month

ASUS HYPER M.2 X16 GEN 4 will allow us to put in RAID 0 no less than up to four M.2 SSD units through a PCIe 4.0 connector. Theoretically, this means that we can add PCIe 4.0 SSDs for reading and write speeds of up to 7000 MB / s, although this will depend on the drive that we are going to add inside the ASUS HYPER M.2 x16.

The ASUS HYPER M.2 X16 bypasses the limitations of many motherboards that have few M.2 ports for adding NVMe SSDs. The only thing we would need is to occupy a slot that would correspond to a discrete graphics card, so we will have to sacrifice having a GPU or this expansion card unless we have a motherboard with several PCIe 4.0 X16 slots.

Inside the HYPER M.2 X16 we will be able to add M.2 SSD units in the following formats: M.2-2242 / -2260 / -2280 / -22110 and indicate which ones are active by means of an LED.

Since SSDs tend to get hotter, the expansion card comes with a small active cooling consisting of a small fan. This should be enough to keep the four units fresh, or the amount that we have active in it. This fan can be disabled by a button on the slot bracket.

The ASUS HYPER M.2 X16 is going to be launched at the end of this month of March, for now, in the United States. We do not know what its price or availability will be in Europe. We will keep you informed.
