AMD EPYC Milan 'Zen 3' to launch this March 15

AMD confirms the release date of the third generation EPYC 'Zen 3' codenamed Milan.

AMD EPYC Milan 'Zen 3' Launch Date: March 15, 2021

The launch will occur as soon as March 15, as confirmed by the American company.

AMD has planned the launch of about 19 EPYC Milan models that vary between 8 and 64 cores. All series will be based on the Zen 3 architecture, as a replacement for the current generation EPYC 'Zen2', which is codenamed Rome.

On March 15, it is expected that Lisa Su, president, and CEO of AMD, along with the great heads of the company, will officially present this new generation of processors designed for servers and data centers.

The presentation can be viewed live from the official AMD website beginning at 8 am PT / 11 am ET. A replay of the presentation will be accessible when the live event concludes and will be available for one year.

Third-generation AMD EPYC Milan, in addition to the best architectural features provided by the Zen 3 core, will increase clock speeds up to 4.1 GHz. With Zen 2 the clock speeds could reach 3.7 GHz. EPYC will also have some P-series units for single-socket systems. The others are designed for double socket equipment.

These AMD EPYC 'Zen 3' processors will be the last to use the SP3 socket, before making the jump to SP5. We will keep you posted with all the details we have about this new AMD release.
