Windows 10 21H2 New UI Exposure: Floating Start Menu To Enable Rounded Edges

The Windows 10 21H2 feature update codenamed "Sun Valley", which will be launched this fall, will significantly adjust the user interface, emphasize the Fluent Design design language in more system details and core software, and enable the new WinUI and rounded edges. This update also deploys "rounded edges" to give the start menu and taskbar a "simpler design".

The rounded edges will become an important design adjustment for the Windows 10 21H2 feature update. Although third-party applications will still use sharp right angles, they will change with the release of WinUI 3.

As we reported earlier this month, Microsoft is considering a new floating start menu for Windows 10. The revised start menu will be "visually separated" from the taskbar, and dynamic and static tiles will also have rounded corners.

In addition, the Jump List (right-click menu of the taskbar) of the Windows 10 system also has a "floating" design. From the rendering made by the foreign media Windows Lastest above, you can see that the rounded edge design is also used in the menu that pops up from the right-click taskbar. And text boxes such as passwords, automatic prompts, and alarms will also be designed with rounded edges to improve the overall UI consistency.

Judging from the rumors and pictures currently exposed, the Windows 10 21H2 feature update will implement a rounded edge design on a large scale. It is estimated that Windows Insider members will be invited to test in June this year, and then officially released during October-November this year.
