Vodafone and IBM launch virtual private cloud offering to help SMEs in digital transformation

The partnership between the companies aims to create solutions to accelerate the digital transformation of Vodafone's corporate customers.

Vodafone and IBM announced an alliance for the launch of Vodafone Virtual Private Cloud, a new private cloud offering for Vodafone Portugal business customers. As stated in the statement, "Vodafone Virtual Private Cloud will provide customers with the scalability, efficiency and security they need to accelerate their digital transformation".

Portuguese companies are accelerating their digital transformation and increasing the use of cloud-based services and technologies to improve their resilience, sustainability and competitiveness.

IBM will provide the private infrastructure dedicated to Vodafone Portugal, which will be hosted in the IBM data center in Portugal. With Vodafone Virtual Private Cloud, customers will be able to access a self-service portal created and managed by IBM, where they will be able to execute and manage their IT workloads while benefiting from the high scalability and adaptability of the solution to the future needs at a competitive cost.

In addition, customers will have the option of using a set of automation and monitoring capabilities, as well as IBM Managed Services, to help them manage, optimize and update their virtual infrastructures and manage their business more efficiently. Vodafone will also offer its customers access to its cybersecurity solutions, allowing them to manage their systems in a more integrated and secure way in a virtual environment. According to Vodafone, with this offer, its customers can have a single partner for telecommunications, cloud, cybersecurity and managed services.

This offer is mainly aimed at SMEs in Portugal that are looking to digitally transform their operations but need a flexible and financially competitive way of managing and optimizing their workloads in a secure cloud environment. Vodafone cites a 2019 study prepared for COTEC Portugal and the European Investment Advisory Hub, which states that almost 40% of Portuguese SMEs have not yet started their digital transformation journey.

This new offering combines the Vodafone Portugal network with IBM's experience in enterprise cloud solutions to help Vodafone customers create more value.
