The wait is finally over. The 2021 awards season is official and with it the nominations for the long-awaited Golden Globes Awards. Today, Sarah Jessica Parker and Taraji P. Henson led the conference to announce this year's contenders.
After 2020 full of pandemics, chaos, and distancing, tied to many questions about what will happen with the great events of the film industry, we can confirm that the Golden Globe awards will be carried out with all the measures of security.
While we hope it won't be as tedious as last year's Primetime Emmys, we have to admit that we have no expectations for the event. But, if they talk to us about nominees, we are already placing our bets.
As expected, we hear a lot of the Netflix name in today's announcements, but Disney Plus, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and HBO Max were not far behind. Yes, as you read, HBO Max has earned a place in the 2021 Golden Globes and has not even completed his first year "on the air."
This year's top contenders, in the film format, include titles such as 'The Father', 'Mank', 'Nomadland', 'Promising Young Woman', 'The Trial of the Chicago 7', 'Borat Subsequent Moviefilm', 'Hamilton', 'Palm Springs', 'Music' and 'The Prom'.
On the other hand, the series format for television or streaming is 'Emily in Paris',' The Flight Attendant ',' The Great ',' Schitt's Creek ',' Ted Lasso ',' The Crown ',' Lovecraft Country ',' The Mandalorian ',' Ozark 'and' Ratched '.
Of course, Netflix is expected to dominate the categories, especially drama and musicals, but we cannot leave Disney Plus behind with 'The Mandalorian' or 'Hamilton'. Hulu also has a chance for 'The Great' and, like last year, Apple TV Plus could have a chance with 'Ted Lasso'.
This year's Golden Globes awards will be held on February 28, it will be presented by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, who will once again host the event after 6 years, as they have been the perfect duo for the event from 2013 to 2015.
