This Is The Hardware You Need To Play Days Gone On PC

Sony has finally revealed that Days Gone is coming to PC (in addition to many other exclusive titles for PS4 in the future, but Days Gone is the one with the closest launch), and together with it they have also revealed the minimum requirements and recommended to play, so next we are going to tell you everything we will need to enjoy this title at 4K resolution (we also anticipate that it comes with support for ultra-panoramic monitors ).

With a release date scheduled for this spring 2021, Days Gone is already listed on Steam, where they have also listed the system requirements that we are going to detail below. It is striking that the game has been created using Epic's Unreal Engine 4 graphics engine and that it is available on Steam and not on the Epic Games platform, but be that as it may, it also highlights that they recommend the use of SSD in this title since loading screens could be excessively long otherwise.

Minimum and Recommended PC Requirements for Days Gone

Minimum RequirementsRecommended Requirements
ProcessorIntel Core i5-2500K
AMD FX 6300
Intel Core i7-4770K
AMD Ryzen 5 1500X
RAM8 GB16 GB
Graphics cardGeForce GTX 780
Radeon R9 290
GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
Radeon RX 580
Storage70 GB SSD70 GB SSD
Operating systemWindows 10 64 bitWindows 10 64 bit

As you can see, the system requirements to run the game are quite moderate, and this is normal considering that it was developed with Unreal Engine 4 and that it was originally intended for the PS4 console, whose hardware is already quite obsolete. In any case, the fact that they recommend 16 GB of RAM and an SSD stands out, since it is a fairly heavy title with a high load of textures.

As usual, they have not indicated if these requirements are for 720p, 1080p or 4K resolution, but we assume that the minimum requirements have to be able to play at 720p resolution or perhaps 1080p with relaxed graphics settings, while the recommended ones will be for gaming at Full HD resolution with graphics maxed out and 60 or more FPS. For 4K resolution as always we would recommend the same system requirements as those recommended but with a better graphics card: probably with an RTX 2060 we already have more than enough to be able to play at 4K and 60 FPS without too many problems.

In addition, in its PC version Days Gone comes with native support for 4K resolution and also for ultra-panoramic monitors, in addition to some other improvements such as unlocked FPS (there will be no limit for vertical synchronization although of course, we will have the option to activate it if we want), Improved graphics (increased level of detail of textures, the field of vision and distance at which foliage appears). In terms of content, it also comes with all the updates and DLC released on console so far, including New Game +, Survival Mode, Challenge Mode, and the additional motorcycle skins.

PlayStation exclusives on PC, will it be a trend?

Days Gone is just one of the many exclusive titles on the PlayStation console that ends up coming to PC, and it is that in recent times it is a trend that we are seeing quite frequently, as for example as it happened with Horizon Zero Dawn. In any case, they arrive several months late because obviously if the developer or distributor is Sony, they prefer to release it first for their console so that people can buy it, but launching it later for PC then expands its reach and a lot.

In an interview, Jim Ryan (CEO of Sony) said that bringing Days Gone to PC is part of an elaborate plan by the company by which they intend to expand the reach of their video games on other platforms:

“I think some things have changed. We are in early 2021 with our development studios in better shape than ever, and particularly from the second half of the PS4 cycle, our studios created especially wonderful games. There is an opportunity to expose these titles to a wider audience and thus recognize the economics of game development, which is not always straightforward. The cost of making games increases with each cycle as the caliber of the IP has improved. In addition, it has increased the ease of making it available to those who do not have a console, so this has been a fairly simple decision for us.

Now then we must take into account the issue of waiting. Imagine for example the next God of War title, which has already been announced for PS5 exclusively. It would be great if it also came out for PC and to be able to enjoy it on our beloved gaming PC with better graphics and FPS rates than on consoles, but if it arrives a year or two later, we will be dealt with reviews and "spoilers" that could annoy us. a little experience and especially the emotion of playing it for the first time.

What do you think? Do you think it's okay for console exclusives to come out on PC but only months or years later?
