The RX 6700 XT GPU will have 2 different TGPs and the RX 6700 will have 6 GB GDDR6

There is news about the mid-range RX 6000, and that is that AMD will launch the Radeon RX 6700 XT with 2 different TGPs in March, while the RX 6700 will arrive in April with 6 GB GDDR6. Although the 2 XT variants have different TGPs, they will come with the same GPU: Navi 22.

All the details of the mid-range Radeon RX 6000 are filtered, which come with Ray Tracing, 16 GB GDDR6 in the high-end, and Smart Access Memory as a novelty. The mid-range will be composed of the Radeon RX 6700 XT, with 12 GB GDDR6, and the RX 6700 with 6 GB GDDR6. If you want more specifications, you will find them below.

Radeon RX 6700 and 6700 XT: AMD's mid-range revealed

AMD will attack the value for money with its mid-range: the Radeon RX 6700 and 6700 XT, which will come "with surprise". Starting with the first, we know that it will have 6 GB GDDR6 with 16 Gbps, while the second has more details to reveal.

In principle, we will have 2 variants of the RX 6700 XT, characterized by coming with a different TGP. As the source has shown, the most powerful is called ASIC A and has 230 W, while ASIC B offers 189 W of TGP. Everything indicates that the second will be used for reference or base models, as for some OEM equipment.

On the other hand, the RX 6700 XT with 230 W will be used in custom models that come with some kind of factory overclock. Both will be 20-25% more powerful than the 8GB RX 5700 XT, which are RDNA-owned and non-Ray Traced.

Another interesting fact is its boost frequency, which will range between 2500-2600 MHz, just like AMD's RX 6800 series. Also, rumor has it that the Radeon RX 6700 XT would come with 96MB of Infinity Cache. If so, there would be a reduction in this type of memory, since the high-end RX 6000 comes with 128 MB.

Despite the differences between the various Radeon RX 6700s, they will all come with a Navi 22 GPU and a 192-bit memory bus. Regarding their opponents, all sources make these pairings:

  • RX 6700 XT -> RTX 3060.
  • RX 6700 ->?

Personally, I think that the RX 6700 XT will be focused on competing with the RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3070, while the RX 6700 would stay paired with the RTX 3060. For this, I am based on the fight between RDNA and Turing, where we saw an RX 5700 XT outperforms the RTX 2060 Super and even the RTX 2070 (without Ray Tracing).

Andreas Schilling pointed out that AMD's target for the RX 6700 XT is to offer a powerful GPU for 1440p gaming.

Radeon RX 6700 and 6700 XT Release Date

Regarding the launches, we already reported that the Radeon RX 6700 XT would hit the market on March 15, while the RX 6700 will be released in April 2021.

The source "does not get wet" and leaves a range of days for the RX 6700 XT: between March 15 and 19. Maybe one comes out before another, hence those 2 different dates.

What do you think of these GPUs? What price do you expect to see?
