The Huawei P30 and Huawei P30 Pro series were the company's latest flagship phones to launch with support for GMS (Google Mobile Services) out of the box. The aforementioned devices debuted with the Android 9.0 Pie operating system under the EMUI 9.1 custom layer. Later, they were updated to EMUI 10.0 and 10.1 based on Android 10 OS. Now, these phones have finally started receiving the long awaited EMUI 11 update in global markets.
EMUI 11 was presented by Huawei at its Developer Conference in September 2020. Recall that, due to commercial prohibitions applied by the United States government, the Chinese giant still cannot access the Android 11 operating system. This means that EMUI 11 also brings Android 10 as its underlying version. Still, the new version of the custom layer brings some useful new features.
The Huawei P30 and P30 Pro receive the news of EMUI 11
For a few weeks now, the Chinese firm has been shipping beta and stable versions of EMUI 11 around the world since its announcement to its eligible devices. Following the official timeline, the company has finally started rolling out the stable EMUI 11 update to the Huawei P30 and Huawei P30 Pro flagship phones that were sold in global markets.
According to specialized media Huawei Central, the update for this duo comes with the build number EMUI 11.0.0.138. The weight of the new update reaches up to 1.81GB, just like the version that is being rolled out for the Huawei Mate 20 flagship phone series (Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro and Mate 20 X).
That said, it appears that the first stage of the global EMUI 11 stable update intended for the Huawei P30 series of phones is currently being rolled out in batches. This means that initially it will be being distributed to a percentage of total users, not all. In this way, it is possible to detect possible errors that affect the user experience. Therefore, it may take a while for it to be available on your mobile device.
How to check availability
Anyway, you can try to check if the OTA is already available for your Huawei P30 or P30 Pro. For this, you must go to the Settings section - System and updates - Software update - Check for updates. Optionally, interested users can update from the Support application by going to the tab Service - update - Check for updates - Download and install.
