Ming-Chi Kuo, the well-known analyst, assures that the next generation of MacBook Pro will come with an SD card reader and an HDMI connector.
Apple is working on a new version of the MacBook Pro with an SD card reader and an HDMI port, according to the renowned analyst and leaker Ming-Chi Kuo.
This is a step back on Apple's part. In the past, your laptops had these two elements. However, with the move towards USB-C ports that the brand undertook in 2015, both the SD card reader and the HDMI connector ended up disappearing from their equipment.
Regarding the design of the new MacBook Pros, Kuo previously noted that "the new models will leave behind the curvilinear design of the tops and bottoms of the existing models, and will adopt a flat-edge design similar to the iPhone 12." theory that he reaffirmed in his latest note to investors:
"We predict that Apple's two new MacBook Pro models in the second half of 2021 will see several significant design and specification changes."
The analyst also noted on previous occasions that Apple will introduce two different MacBook Pros: a 14-inch and a 16-inch.
Ming-Chi Kuo's prediction coincides in several respects with that of Mark Gurman ( Bloomberg ), who has also noted in the past that the next MacBook Pros will have an SD card reader. The analyst, however, has gone a step further by stating that Taiwan Genesys Logic will be the supplier of this hardware so requested by many users.
More changes for the next generation MacBook Pro
It is expected that the next generation of these computers, in addition to the aforementioned, will be accompanied by a new generation of ARM processors designed by Apple. These, among other things, could have more high-performance cores, which would dramatically increase the overall speed of the machine.
The new models are also expected to bring back the MagSafe connector, which protects the equipment in case a person trips over the charging cable.
On the other hand, the new computers could say goodbye to the Touch Bar, an element that since its introduction in 2016, has caused contradictory opinions among users.
