Samsung to Launch Exynos-Based Laptop with Radeon Graphics

The first rumors are emerging about a new Samsung laptop that combines an Exynos CPU and a Radeon GPU based on the RDNA architecture.

It is said that the Samsung laptop is ready to work with the Windows 10 operating system that is compatible with the ARM architecture. These laptops could be of the Allways Connected type to take advantage of the great autonomy of the ARM type chips. Windows 10 is already working on laptops with Qualcomm's Snapdragon chips.

Samsung and AMD had an agreement in 2019 for a processor designer with a Radeon iGPU and it seems that the first laptops to take advantage of them are about to come out during 2021. In this way, Samsung would be replacing the Mali iGPUs with the Radeon ones, which is used in the last Galaxy S21 phone (SoC Exynos 2100).

Samsung never anticipated which products Exynos + Radeon would combine. There was talk for a while about a high-end smartphone that never saw the light of day, until now, and now there is information about an Allways Connected laptop.

Under the terms of the agreement with AMD, Samsung has access to the architecture, but not exactly the design. AMD's GPU will be customized, just as the red company did when designing the Xbox Series X / S and PlayStation 5 SoCs.

Specifications are unknown, but the source claims it will go on sale in the third quarter of this year.

Samsung wants to pursue a strategy very similar to that of Apple when it began designing its own M1 SoCs for its macOS product line. We expect a lot from this new combination and if they can live up to what Apple, Intel, and AMD offer in the segment.
