The sale of RTX 3060 graphics cards is spiraling out of control before the official launch, which is on February 25th.
Nvidia's upcoming RTX 3060 mid-range graphics card has been showing up in various retailers around the world with stock available for sale, something that has come as a surprise due to the violation of the marketing terms before the official launch.
Now, the graphics card has started to appear on the second-hand market. The RTX 3060 has been featured on the Belarusian second-hand sale site Onliner. User Artem is re-selling three graphics cards on the site at a price of $ 1080 each, a totally exorbitant value considering that the official MSRP price is $ 329.
The situation is somewhat unprecedented and it is not remembered that a graphics card is already available for sale second-hand before launch. Even so, those who buy this graphics card will find that there are still no drivers to take advantage of it, which makes it useless for video games. However, it is possible that Nvidia will release drivers in the next few days before launch.
You said the RTX 3060 Eagle of Gigabyte was unpacked to see if it works. It is very likely that it has been tested doing mining tasks, which is the only thing that can be done without the drivers.
We have known that Nvidia is going to limit the performance of cryptocurrency mining with these graphics cards, to be a not recommended option for miners, but more palatable for gamers, which is what Nvidia is looking for.
The reason for selling these second-hand models would be purely economic to take advantage of the launch, or because the mined performance is so poor that Artem simply no longer rents to own them.
NVIDIA will officially launch its GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card on February 25, all in custom variants.
