The benchmark of the RTX 3060 has been leaked in Ashes of the Singularity with the Crazy_1080p preset and the 12 GB GDDR6 GPU does not reach 7000 points. It appears paired with an i7-8700K, and falls far short of the RX 6800, which scores 9500 points with the same configuration.
Everything seems to indicate that the RTX 3060 will continue to be a "short" version and it will be worth starting from the RTX 3060 Ti to obtain sufficient gaming performance in the long term. If we get into Ray Tracing terrain, the difference would be even greater, but this test reveals signs that its power will be far from that of the powered version.
The RTX 3060 would be insufficient for 1440p, according to this test
It is true that the AoS test is a mere indication, without having a round validity to state outright that the performance is what it is. It's already a hint of what we might expect from the RTX 3060 in 1080p, though: just over 70 FPS with Ultra graphics settings in the latest titles.
The score obtained by the RTX 3060 in the AoS benchmark with the Crazy_1080p setting is 6800 points. The components that have accompanied it are:
- Intel Core i7-8700K.
- 32 GB of DDR4 RAM.
Interestingly, we found other tests with the same CPU and preset, but with different graphics cards: RTX 3060 Ti, RTX 3070, RX 6800, 6800 XT, and 6900 XT. Comparing them with the NVIDIA, the difference is obvious: 1100 points with the RTX 3060 Ti and 2200 points with respect to the RTX 3070. You have to understand that the AMDs are much further, both in specifications and in price.
However, it is interesting to compare its performance with the RTX 3060 Ti, and is that the difference is 1100 points in the total, as well as 15 FPS on average. In addition, we have seen that the same user has tested it with the DirectX 12 API, as with the Vulkan API.
With the Vulkan API, the performance of the RTX 3060 drops, even more, obtaining 6600 points compared to the 6900 that it achieves with DirectX 12. It is not something so remarkable, but it is worth mentioning the difference between APIs for the NVIDIA RTX 3000.
RTX 3060 release date and price
Finally, the RTX 3060 will hit the market on February 25, that is, this Thursday. Its official starting price will be from € 335, but forget that price because there will be a surcharge due to lack of stock. In fact, the RTX 3060 is already being sold on the second-hand market.
Regarding its specifications, they would be the following:
Datasheet | RTX 3060 |
GPU | GA106-300 |
Memory | 12 GB GDDR6 |
Memory bus | 192-bit |
Bandwidth | 360.0 GB / s |
Base / boost frequency | 1320/1777 MHz |
CUDA Cores | 3584 |
Tensor Cores | 112 |

What performance do you expect from this RTX 3060? Do you think it will be better than the RX 6700 XT?
