The Emtek brand is relaunching its RTX 2060 graphics cards, but with some features that are cut to cut costs somewhat.
Original model vs modified model |
Due to the shortage of the entire RTX 30 series in general, many manufacturers are re-releasing some 'old' series graphics cards to keep supply over demand high. One of the most requested graphics cards is the RTX 2060, which seems to be coming to life in recent weeks. We know that Nvidia has been replenishing the graphics card matrices such as the GTX 1050 Ti, GTX 1650, RTX 2060, etc, has requested from partners to relaunch them on the market.
Emtek has been tapping into the RTX 2060 circuitry to offer it at a lower price. As detected by the Twitter user (Harukaze5719), Emtek is selling a new variant of the RTX 2060 and RTX 2070 under the names Storm X Dual Basic D6 6GB.
Original model vs modified model |
These graphics cards come with a cooling system and a power supply subsystem trimmed for the occasion. The original RTX 2060 Storm X Dual D6 6GB employed a copper cold plate with four copper heat pipes. The single cold plate has been removed by Emtek and the heat pipes reduced to two (see comparison above). The other change has to do with the power phases, which go from being 6 + 2 phases to 4 + 2 phases (See in the first image above).
The clock speeds would remain as usual and the RTX 2070 would still have frequencies of 1365 MHz base and 1680 MHz as the boost clock speed.
The RTX 2070 Storm X Dual D6 6GB is priced at KRW 655,500 ($ 592.65), while the RTX 2060 Storm X Dual Basic D6 6GB is priced at KRW 580,000 ($ 524.39). Emtek manages to reduce the price by 11.5%, not that much, but for those who are looking for the cheapest possible model.
Everything seems to indicate that the shortage of graphics cards RTX 30 from Nvidia or RX 6000 from AMD will continue with us for several months. We will keep you informed.
