LG suspended the design of its curious roll-up smartphone

After some rumors and leaks, LG surprised everyone by leaving a small, but interesting, presentation of its roll-up smartphone at CES 2021. This equipment has attracted the attention of consumers, since it is a folding roll that, and, therefore, different from those on the market.

However, now some sources indicate that the South Korean brand will have suspended the LG Rollable project. The suppliers will have already been notified and the work for the realization of this smartphone will be stopped. Perhaps LG is not yet ready to take this step, or it may have completely discarded the production of a smartphone with these characteristics.

Although there are already a few different models of foldable smartphones on the market, LG came up with a completely different idea. Instead of a smartphone that effectively folds, the South Korean brand thought of a rolling phone, called the LG Rollable.

While the information was just rumors, consumers found it unlikely to be produced. However, during CES 2021, the brand left a brief glimpse of what this curious scrollable smartphone would look like.

However, it seems that this equipment may not see the light of day soon, or ever.

According to sources on the Yonhap News website, LG reportedly told its suppliers, including manufacturers of BOE screens, to suspend work on the LG Rollable. However, this does not mean that the brand totally discards any possible launch of this roll-up phone. But for now, it will not be a reality.

According to a spokesman for the company, nothing can be confirmed at this point in relation to this smartphone.

However, if the South Korean company chooses to withdraw from this project, it is more likely that the manufacturers involved will demand some financial compensation.

This decision may be related to the losses that LG has shown in its financial results. For 5 years, the company has not managed to end a year with a positive balance and not even the various adapted strategies have had the desired effect.

But the brand has another interesting and different device on the market, the LG Wing with a rotating screen.
