GeForce RTX 3060 First Review: Midway between Radeon RX 5700 XT and GeForce RTX 2060 Super

The day has arrived: The long-awaited GeForce RTX 3060 was finally launched and, with it, the first reviews arrived, showing its performance in different scenarios. As we will see below, NVIDIA's new GPU sits somewhere between the Radeon RX 5700 XT and the GeForce RTX 2060 Super.

Starting with the WCCFTech benchmarks, the GeForce RTX 3060 is slightly slower than the Radeon RX 5700 XT but manages to outperform the RTX 2060 Super in DOOM Eternal by a slight difference.

For its part, PCGamesHardware decided to test the new GPU in games that benefit both AMD and NVIDIA. Thus, the RTX 3060 outperforms the RX 5700 XT in Control but lags far behind it in Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

Following up with different reviews, Kitguru shows that the RTX 3060 offers almost identical performance to the RX 5700 XT and RTX 2060 Super in Cyberpunk 2077, although it manages to outperform them by a slight difference in The Division 2.

Finally, Guru3D claims that the RTX 3060 offers superior performance to these GPUs in Resident Evil 3, however, it lags behind the Radeon RX 5700 XT in games like Metro Exodus.

So, by way of conclusion, we see that the GeForce RTX 3060 offers very similar performance to the Radeon RX 5700 XT and the last generation RTX 2060 Super / RTX 2070, so if you have one of these graphics cards, maybe not worth spending on this new GPU.

And this last point is something fundamental since this graph presents a huge leap from the GTX 1060, the GPU it aims to replace as the market favorite. However, given the high prices due to lack of stock, perhaps it is best to wait a few months, and see if the situation normalizes a bit.

The GeForce RTX 3060 is a great option for those who have a GTX 1060, but if you have a previous generation GPU, it might not be worth it. Do you agree?
