Blizzard Reveals New Overwatch 2 Hero Designs And Unveils New Character

Overwatch 2 hasn't had as much time on BlizzConline as other Blizzard Entertainment games, in part because it's still a long way off. But the Overwatch team did not appear empty-handed: during the show, Blizzard talked about the creation of a sequel, and also shared new images of the heroes and villains of this game.

Blizzard detailed the design changes for four characters: McCree, Farrah, Reaper, and Widowmaker. The changes are not radical. McCree still has his signature cowboy hat and poncho, but like other Overwatch 2 characters, he looks a little more tech-savvy. Yes, and his beard has become a little longer.

For Widowmaker, as you can see in the gallery above, Blizzard tried several looks. According to lead concept artist Arnold Tsang, the team ended up opting for a more cyberpunk style. The widow also acquired a scythe and rather dubious armor.

Farrah retained her high-tech armor but received a more transparent protective helmet to show more emotion. There is also more white in her base color scheme. As for the Reaper, the style and silhouette of this fighter have been preserved, but the scale has become lighter, with a shift in silvery tones. Overall, heroes and villains in Overwatch 2 retain many elements of their original look.

Blizzard also revealed several new details about the first confirmed new hero of Overwatch 2 - Sojourn, which we saw during the announcement of the second part, during the presentation video dedicated to the development of the game. Sojourn is the first Canadian character in the universe and the first to use the popular weapon in shooters - the rail gun.

You can see Sojourn in action at about 11 minutes in the video presented. Geoff Goodman, the Lead Hero Designer, said Saujurn was designed with her weapon type in mind. The Rail Cannon features really powerful shots that can rip apart enemies if hit accurately. The main thing for this character is the ability to aim.

The video does not give too much information about the features of the game for this heroine, but her weapon also seems to have a semi-automatic firing mode. By the way, a quick look at the character's design reveals another detail: Saujurn has cybernetic modifications with boosters on the legs and back, allowing her to make jet dashes. It is worth remembering, however, that things may still change during the development of Overwatch 2.

Overwatch 2 doesn't have a release date yet, but Activision Blizzard recently said it shouldn't wait until 2022 to launch.
