Asgard launches 128GB DDR5-4800 memory module

Chinese manufacturer Asgard, owned by Shenzhen Jiahe Jinwei Electronic, is announcing their first DDR5 memory module which has a capacity of 128GB.

According to the IThome medium, it has been reported that the Chinese manufacturer Asgard is announcing a new generation DDR5-4800 memory of up to 128 GB.

Asgard launches the memory module called VMA5AUK-MMH224W3, which the manufacturer offers 32GB modules and with a maximum of 128GB. The design, clearly, is not focused on the commercial plane because there are still no processors or motherboards to support it.

At the moment, the only model available for purchase has a capacity of 64 GB, later the modules with 32 GB and 128 GB of memory will be available. The memory speed is 4800 MHz, but this is nowhere near the ceiling that DDR5 modules can reach. It is estimated that the memory speed will reach around 8400 MHz in the future, almost double that of the first models that we will see at the beginning.

Asgard will only use a DRAM voltage of 1.1V, which is the reference voltage for DDR5 memories. Memory times are 40-40-40.

Asgard says it hasn't started mass-producing its new DDR5 memories, but they are expected to be available as soon as the new 12th Gen Alder Lake-S processors arrive and the new Intel 600 series motherboards, which could eventually arrive in late this year or early 2022.

Asgard mentioned that upcoming Intel Alder Lake, Sapphire Rapids, and Tiger Lake-U CPUs are going to have DDR5 support, as well as AMD's upcoming Van Gogh and Rembrandt APUs. We will keep you informed.
