Apple steps back and removes iCloud 12 update and iCloud Passwords extension support

Apple's bet on apps outside its ecosystem is very low. Many of the apps that had been disappearing, showing that this is not even his area of expertise, focusing on its offerings.

Still, there are a few apps that resist and give access to Apple services. One that is still functional is iCloud for Windows, which received an update this week. Now, and without any reason, Apple stepped back and removed this new version.

iCloud 12 brought something new to Windows

It is not normal for Apple to release updates to its Windows dedicated apps. It only does it when it has news on its operating systems and wants to bring its versions and existing features closer.

The most recent arrived a few days ago and put iCloud in version 12 and brought a surprise. The new iCloud Passwords extension brings Chrome access to all Safari passwords. It also saves passwords created in Chrome in the iCloud Keychain.

Chrome extension brings serious problems

Everything seemed to work correctly, but Apple has now decided to roll back the update. Users began to report problems, which apparently are to the extent that Apple created to sync user data with Chrome.

The company has not commented yet, but everything seems to be focused on 2-factor authentication, which is not working properly. There are also reports that the extension simply did not work as intended by users.

Apple did not comment on this problem

Apple's decision now poses a problem for users. The extension can still be installed by anyone, but it is simply not supported by iCloud for Windows. So, this just doesn't work and is useless for now.

Probably Apple will be solving the problems of iCloud for Windows. Withdrew the update to prevent users with problems. The point is that in this way users now have an extension that does not do what it promises.
