AMD Confirms USB Issues on AM4 500 Motherboards

AMD confirms that there are a small number of users who are experiencing intermittent problems with USB connectivity.

Through a post on Reddit, AMD confirms what some users of AM4 500 series motherboards had been experiencing. Through this same post, AMD asked the community for some help in finding the source of the problem and fixing it as soon as possible using a firmware update.

AMD wants community users to help provide data on their computer configuration that allows them to reproduce the same error in their labs. Once the cause is discovered, finding the solution will be much easier.

The reported problems would be related to the connectivity of USB DACs, VR glasses, keyboards and other devices that are having problems with intermittent disconnections. AMD is calling on all 500 series motherboard users to contact them to offer a solution soon.

”AMD is aware that a small number of users are experiencing intermittent USB connectivity problems on 500 series chipsets. We have been looking into the root cause and at this time, we would like to enlist the help of the community with a small selection of additional hardware configurations. In the coming days, some r/AMD users may be contacted directly by an AMD representative (u/AMDOfficial) via the Reddit MP system with a request for more information.

This request may include detailed hardware configurations, steps to reproduce the problem, specific logs, and other pertinent system information to verify our development efforts. When we have more information, we will update it. Customers with problems are always encouraged to submit a service request online to AMD customer service; this allows us to find correlations and compare scores between requests for assistance."

At the time of this writing, there is no fix that will fix the problem in the meantime, so you have to wait for a firmware update. We will keep you informed.
