Windows 10 taskbar now features news and weather widget

It became known that the developers from Microsoft have integrated a new widget into the taskbar of the Windows 10 software platform. We are talking about a news and weather widget, thanks to which users will be able to receive up-to-date information without installing a third-party application and without even launching a browser. The innovation is currently available to members of the Microsoft Insider Program on the Dev (Early Access) channel.

According to the available data, users will be able to personalize the news displayed in the new widget on topics that match their personal preferences. To keep the widget working, the Microsoft News aggregator is used to process publications from more than 4500 sources. A special algorithm based on a neural network is also used to select news that matches user preferences (content is selected based on viewed materials and marked publications).

The source says that for the new widget to work properly, you will need to install the Chromium-based Edge browser. This way, any link that the user clicks from the widget will automatically open in the Microsoft branded browser. The developers say that there will be no ads in the new widget, and if necessary, users can turn it off.

As mentioned, the new widget is currently only available through Microsoft's Insider Programs. Users of a test build of Windows 10 from the US, Canada, UK, Australia, and India can already test it. This innovation is expected to appear in stable versions of the operating system later this year.
