Why is it the perfect time for Mr. Bean and Borat to retire?

If there is something we have learned "the hard way" it is that nothing lasts forever, and that includes even iconic comedy characters like Mr. Bean - played by Rowan Atkinson - and Borat - who was recently brought to life by Sacha Baron Cohen for the sequel on Amazon Prime Video.

While many would love that both Mr. Bean and Borat were "immortal" in the world of comedies, we are here to present another vision, and that is, in reality, there will be no better time than this for both characters to say goodbye. from the screens and give way to others, such as, for example, Borat's "daughter", who came to save the franchise from extinction.

In a recent interview with Radio Times, Atkinson - who has played other incredible characters like Johnny English - admitted that he "doesn't really enjoy" bringing Mr. Bean to life. The reason? The star says that the weight of responsibility to interpret it "is not pleasant."

"I find it stressful and exhausting, and I look forward to the end," added Atkinson, who, in truth, has every right to want to retire from the role after 31 years. 'Mr. Bean 'started in the 1990s and has taken the form of a television show, two tapes, an animated series, four books, and even a sketch made for the Olympics nine years ago.

Also, if we are frank, Atkinson is 60 years old, so it is more than natural that the actor wants to change his roles on screen, or even retire altogether if he so chooses. The type of comedy that characterizes Mr. Bean is not exactly suitable for a grown man who exceeds half a coupon.

Also, Atkinson is not alone in his "retirement" approaches, as, this week, Cohen revealed to Variety that Borat is "equally extinct." Why? Well, the truth is that the character's objective is political attacks, especially against Trump, now that the businessman is about to leave the presidency, "I don't see the purpose of doing it again."

Before we consider that both Atkinson and Baron Cohen are throwing in the towel too soon, we must be honest and admit that their reasons for withdrawing are correct. One, saying goodbye to his character for age, and the other, saying goodbye for lack of purpose.

However, this does not mean that franchises will die forever and that new generations will not have the opportunity to meet them. What all this means is that there will be changes, some that might be liked and others that not so much. But there will be changes, we are sure.
