On December 31, 2020, Adobe ended support for Flash Player and users are now recommended to remove the software from the operating system and browsers. To prevent users from having to do it manually, Microsoft will release a Windows 10 update.
The Adobe Flash Player has been part of the Windows system for over a decade. Adobe declared the technology obsolete back in 2017 and announced its decision to end support for Flash Player in December 2020. After January 12, 2021, Adobe will begin blocking Flash content from playing in Flash Player so that users will not be able to access it.
Note that Microsoft released a Windows 10 update back in
October that removes the Adobe Flash Player. However, this update is entirely voluntary and must be manually installed from the Microsoft Update Catalog.
In the near future, the update will begin to be distributed as an optional through Windows Update, and in a few months, it will become recommended.
