The first smartphones with a 200-megapixel camera are coming

Currently, smartphone cameras contain sensors with a resolution of up to 108 million pixels - such solutions are offered by Samsung. But already this year, sensors with an even higher number of pixels are expected to appear.

The popular blogger Ice universe, who has previously published accurate data on upcoming new products from the mobile world, reports that in 2021 Samsung will announce a number of advanced ISOCELL sensors for smartphone cameras. Among them, it is said, will be a 200-megapixel solution.

Network sources point out that 108-megapixel cameras are often referred to as 100-megapixel cameras. So the actual resolution of Samsung's new sensor is likely to be 216 million pixels.

By the way, earlier in Samsung talked about plans to create image sensors, which in their capabilities will be able to come close to the human eye. The South Korean giant notes that the "biological sensor" of the eye has a resolution of about 500 million pixels. The company expects to surpass this indicator in the future.

Ultra-high resolution image sensors could be useful in machine vision systems, car self-management complexes, drones, etc.
